The Department of PMR was set up at SNIMS in December 2020 to meet the rehabilitation needs of the community at large. By appropriately using medications, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, lifestyle modifications, orthoses, & prostheses, where needed, we hope to reduce the distress of the patient & improve their functional status.

Vision:-To cater to the growing rehabilitation needs of the community by holistically rehabilitating patients. These exercises reduce their distress and improve their quality of life and functional status.

Our department provides immediate medical and surgical care to patients in need of immediate attention. Emergency department personnel may also respond to certain situations within the hospital such as cardiac arrests. Emergency Medicine doctors stabilise and treat patients who are experiencing acute health problems or traumatic injuries. Some patients are treated and released from the Emergency room. A few others need to be managed by other specialists.

Our department has well experienced faculty with a proven track record of academic excellence. We provide outpatient facilities on all days from 9 am to 4 pm and deal with emergency cases round the clock on all days.

All Outpatient cubicles are well equipped with appropriate instruments & EMR system to record all OP & IP details. In addition to regular OP we conduct speciality clinics like Allergy clinic, Vertigo clinic & Headache clinics on a regular basis. Our OPD has a well equipped Endoscopy room where we perform Video laryngoscopy, diagnostic nasal endoscopy, endoscopic foreign body removal etc…

Our Audiology section has two experienced audiologists & speech therapists. We perform routine hearing tests and advanced tests like PTA, Tympanogram for the disabled & OAE & BERA for neonatal hearing screening.

Our department library has a collection of books and journals for immediate references. Central Library has a large collection of E- journals & textbooks on Ear, Nose and Throat.

We also have a well equipped Temporal bone lab for postgraduate students.

Since 2009, the department of Anaesthesia has had a crucial role in the development of the institution and continues to provide ‘State of the art services’.

Anaesthesiology is a department looking after patients undergoing general and laparoscopic surgeries, Orthopaedic, ENT, Oral and Maxillofacial, Obstetrics and Gastro surgery. We provide efficient preoperative assessment, risk stratification and optimisation of patients before surgery.

Our department with the help of modern equipments installed is managed by a team of dedicated professionals. Department is striving to meet the needs of every patient and clinician in medical imaging. We offer round the clock services to the patients. Our aim is to provide accurate diagnosis at an affordable cost.

We offer a wide range of radiology services like abdomen USG, anomaly scan USG, Doppler, X-rays of various kinds, CT scan, interventional radiology, procedures like TACE, stroke management, angioembolization etc., We have reported more than 2000 COVID CT’s with high degree of accuracy.

Diagnostic services offered in the department include radiography, ultrasonography including obstetric ultrasound, Doppler and MDCT scans. Diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound and CT guided procedures are being done in the department.

The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology started functioning from June 2018 in SNIMS. This Department is being managed by a full time senior surgical gastroenterologist and general surgeons. We perform complex Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery works including Benign disease of GI and GI oncology, advanced Laparoscopic surgeries and obesity surgery.

The department of Pulmonary Medicine was established in 2009. The department provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to a wide range of patients with pulmonary diseases. Our dedicated team of pulmonologists strives to provide advanced respiratory care to patients with all types of respiratory problems. The clinicians of the department have the skill and expertise for managing all sorts of COVID 19 related medical illness and complications. The faculty and staff are very much dedicated to the management of COVID 19 and enact a key role in controlling spread of disease within the campus and in the community and coordinating all COVID-19 related activities and vaccination, supporting the Government of Kerala.

The Department of Psychiatry strives to provide treatment for patients suffering from mental disorders. We in the department manage Adult Psychiatric Disorders, Alcohol and drug addiction, Problems of Children and adolescents, Stress related problems, Sexual dysfunction, marital problems, old age problems, rehabilitation of the mentally challenged and the mentally ill. Psychiatric intervention is available round the clock for managing psychiatric emergencies including patients who are suicidal and acutely disturbed. Relaxation techniques are employed in addressing stress related disorders.

Dermatology and Venereology is the branch of medicine dealing with diseases affecting the skin. It is a speciality with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist medical doctor who manages diseases related to skin, hair, nails, and a few cosmetic problems. Dermatologists also look after patients afflicted with Leprosy and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Dermatology is taught from the 4th Semester onwards. MBBS students have six weeks posting during their course. Our faculty holds theory and clinical sessions for MBBS students. Internal examinations are held regularly and this helps us to assess academic progress of our students. Our dedicated faculty and staff care for and offer procedures and services, both investigative and curative, pertaining to general dermatology, cosmetology and venereology at an affordable cost. Comprehensive care and treatment is provided for both outpatients and in-patients. Various treatment procedures are offered by our well trained dermatologists.

The department functions from 8.30am to 4.00pm on all days of the week except Sunday.
