Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS) warmly welcomed its new batch of MBBS students with a grand ceremony held on October 14, 2024. The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the aspiring doctors, who are set to embark on a rigorous and rewarding educational path.
The welcome ceremony was graced by esteemed GCT members, administrative staff, and faculties.
The distinguished guests – Executive Director & Principal Lt Gen (Dr) Ajith Nilakantan, Vice Principal Prof Dr Joseph Francis, President (GCT) Shri Sreedharan Jayakumar, Joint Secretary (GCT) Shri C P Shylanathan, Administrative Manager Shri Abith Ganesh, joined Prof Dr Reena Alexander (HOD Physiology), Prof Dr Asha Augusthy (HOD Biochemistry), Prof Dr Alexander John (HOD Community Medicine), Prof Dr Varghese P D (Dept of Anatomy), Prof Dr Thomas Jerry (Dept of Forensic Medicine), Shri Abhijith C (Student’s union chairman) and Shri Ron Sabu (2024 batch student) for the traditional lamp lighting ceremony.
The Principal addressed the gathering welcoming all students and their parents to the campus. Keynote addresses were delivered by the President and Joint Secretary (GCT), emphasizing the importance of dedication, empathy, and continuous learning in medical profession. The ‘CharakShapath’ delivered by HOD Community Medicine marked a solemn and uplifting moment as the students pledged to uphold the highest ethical standards in their future practice. This was followed by addresses by the Administrative Manager and Student’s union chairmanintroducing the students to campus facilities and extracurricular opportunities.Prof Dr Abhima M B introduced the student support and guidance programme (SSGP) in her address. An orientation session by Dr Anoop B S introduced students to the campus facilities, and familiarised them with various academic & administrative staff. Vice Principal Prof Dr Joseph Francis delivered the Vote of Thanks.
The ceremony resonated deeply with the students. Parents and guardians in attendance expressed pride and optimism for their children's future.

The University toppers over the years of Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS) were honored at a memorable function held at the SNIMS College auditorium on 27th September, 2024.. This year, Amritakrishna J. secured the first rank in the MBBS examination conducted by Kerala University of Health Sciences. Previous years rank holders, Dr. Srividya Suresh, Dr. Ashima R. Chandran, and Dr. Reni Benny were also honored.
The Minister for Agriculture, Government of Kerala, Shri. P. Prasad was the Chief Guest. Other Guests of honour were the former Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri. V. Muraleedharan, former Minister for Agriculture,Kerala Shri. Adv.V.S. Sunilkumar and also the Opposition leader, Kerala assembly, Shri.V.D.Satheeshan via video message.

Minister Shri.P. Prasad stated during the event stated that diligent students are always a stepping stone for the society, emphasizing that compassionate patient care, ethical medical practice, and dedication to the field of medicine are fundamental responsibilities that every doctor should uphold. Former Union Minister V. Muraleedharan expressed in his message to the audience, the need to ensure that medical students have the necessary environment to foster modern discoveries in the field of medical research.
Former Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunilkumar spoke about the innovative possibilities in the health sector, the selfless service of doctors in the field of medicine, and the need to eliminate exploitation within the medical domain.
Dr. Amritakrishna J., this year’s rank holder, expressed gratitude for the support received from Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences while accepting the honor.
