PHARMACOLOGY
Pharmacology is a branch of medical science that deals with therapy of diseases. Due to the introduction of new drugs, choosing the right drug therapy continues to be a challenge to the clinician. A sound knowledge of Pharmacology therefore is essential.
Scientific basis of therapeutics forms the basis of our teaching.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Adverse drug monitoring Centre
The institute has been recognized as an ADR Monitoring Centre by the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). The Pharmacovigilance committee conducts periodic review of the adverse drug events, initiates education programmes and has taken the lead in formulating ADE management protocols. We report ADEs to World Health Organization monitoring centre at Upsala, Sweden, through Vigiflow software of PvPI
Drugs and Therapeautic committee
A faculty of the department is one of the members of the hospital Drugs and Therapeutic committee which provides guidance in aspects related to the use of drugs in the hospital so as to ensure quality patient care.
Other academic activities
Other activities of the department include integrated teaching programmes, continuing medical education programmes, formulation of drug related management protocols.
Central Animal House
We have license for central animal facility. The facility is equipped for small animal experimentation with quarantine and experimental rooms for rats, rabbits and guinea pig. The animal species are being used for various research projects approved by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC).

CLINICAL PHARMACY LAB
A pharmacy lab in the department is equipped with all the essential instruments and reagents for demonstration and practice of pharmacy exercises.
EXPERIMENTAL PHARMACOLOGY LAB
This well-equipped lab provides facility for demonstration of animal experiments and charts.
DEMONSTRATION ROOM
Has a capacity to accommodate 20 students. Room has audio-visual aids, interactive board and sound system
MUSEUM
The department Museum contains sample drugs, pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic charts, photographs of medicinal plants, plant products, charts depicting history of pharmacology to aid illustrative teaching. It has a capacity to seat of 50 students. It is well-equipped with audio-visual aids including OHP & LCD projectors.
COMPUTER ASSISTED LAB
A dedicated room with essential computer (25 Nos.) supports is available for Animal exeperiments via Ex –Pharma software
RESEARCH LAB
The research lab contains all equipments as specified by NMC.
LIBRARY
The department library has 82 books on medical pharmacology and allied specialties for UG, PG and faculty reference.
